Hope you like. Jay and Bob are already together in this 'un. Yes the title is from the Aaliyah song, but the song has nothing to do with this. The name just fit the story. :o) We Need A Resolution New Years Eve, 2001. It only happened once a year when everyone got together with their friends all in one place for a big party to bring in the new year. Everyone knew each other somehow; through school, through other people's friends, and sometimes they didn't remember how they knew each other. But that one night a year, it didn't matter. They were all there celebrating. Jay and Silent Bob loved New Year's parties because it meant they got to see all their old friends at the same time and catch up with them. For the majority of the night, Jay and Bob would split up, gather their counterparts and chat the evening away. Tonight was no different. Jay had a big rouse going on in one area with Brodie, Banky, and Randal. Bob on the other hand was actually making civilized conversation with T.S., Holden, and Dante. It was rare he ever spoke with them, or spoke at all. It was nearing midnight and everyone wanted to get to their significant others, or in some cases their closest friends, to get in their kiss for the new year. Jay and Bob walked towards each other, just smiling. "D'ja have fun, Lunchbox?" Jay asked. Bob nodded appreciatively. He motioned his hand at Jay. *Did you?* Jay just nodded. He turned to look at the clock. 11:57pm. He turned back to Bob. "You know, I was thinking. It's gonna be a new year and all... and we never really made any resolutions like we s'posed to." Jay said. Bob nodded. "Well, it's time we made one. We shouldn't be keeping our love from our friends. I know we don't see 'em much, but it's kinda stupid. It's new years and -" 11:58pm "- everyone who's with someone 's gonna be showin' their love fer each other..." Jay said, frantically looking at the clock. Bob's lips formed a small smile. He nodded again. Jay smiled in return. 11:59pm The noise around them was getting louder and quieter at the same time. Bob grabbed Jay's hands when he heard everyone counting. The crowd chanted. 10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" the crowd screamed, and everyone grabbed their loved ones and planted one on them. Speakers somewhere in the distance played 'Old Lang Syne.' Jay placed his hand behind Bob's neck and pulled him closer ever so gently and their lips met. At the same second, fireworks went off, making the moment that much more magical. A hush had come over the crowd as one by one, people stopped kissing whoever they were with and turned around in time to see Jay and Bob making out. The only noise was the fireworks and the music. Jay pulled away from Bob and looked down into his big brown eyes, his hand still behind Bob's neck. A soft smile crossed his face. "Happy new year. I love you." Jay said very softly. Bob deliriously sighed and stroked Jay's face. "I love you too." he said. END
