No, I don't believe grabbing it from the list requires a note. :> E-mail address for feedback: kel@crazysheep.net (as I'm having problems with Hotmail and I'm keeping Insub as clear as possible) Series/Sequel: I doubt it. Just a little smarm piece. UST UST UST! Disclaimers: All characters belong to Kevin Smith and the View Askewniverse. If I really get into this, I probably will too. This is what happens when I'm the only one awake. :> Summary: Bob runs through his head what could happen, if he gave in to his desire for Jay. Warnings: None, really. No spoilers, nothing people don't already know. Heavy on the quoted stuph. "What Would Happen?" by Kelandris "Electricity Eye to Eye Hey don't I know you I can't speak" Silent Bob tapped out a cigarette, lighting it off the butt of the last, watching as Jay wandered out of the Quickstop, snack-cake in hand. He slouched over to where Bob stood, serene in his black leather, standing as if for ready battle, feet planted wide apart. Bob dropped the cig and ground it out, smoking down the new one. "Stripped my senses On the spot I've never been defenseless I can't even make sense of this You speak and I don't hear a word" Jay was muttering about something, and for once, Bob didn't bother keeping up with the running patter. When the younger man gestured towards the bus stop, he simply nodded, moving like a schooner out of harbor. He crossed the pavement guided by the long fall of Jay's blond hair. "What would happen if we kissed Would your tongue slip past my lips Would you run away Would you stay" On the bus ride home, Jay kept talking. Silent Bob knew that as long as he looked over now and again, frowned once or twice, made occasional nods, Jay would feel as if he were listening. And most of the time, he did, though Lord, but that boy could talk. Today, though, all he wanted to do was touch that smooth face. More, maybe-touch his face, run his fingers along the jawline, bring him close and finally kiss those pouting lips. And what would Jay do then? Scream and run? Punch him? Curse him for wanting those narrow hips, that sweep of golden hair, and that incredible brain that lurked, unnoticed, behind the patter, behind the gutter mouth, behind the bragging attitude of the perpetual street kid? Or would he stay? "Or would I melt into you Mouth to mouth Lust to lust Spontaneously combust" Getting off the bus, Bob took a moment to adjust his coat. He watched Jay walk up the stairs, still talking. Yap, yap, yap. God, wouldn't it be worth it to silence him for a bit, just throw him against the wall and press against him and kiss him, full out, until his mouth parted and Bob's tongue could get in and play? Right, like that would ever happen. Sighing, he walked up the stairs behind Jay, kicking the door closed when he got inside. "The room is spinning Out of control Act like you didn't notice Brushed my hand" He filched a couple of beers out of the fridge, looking over his shoulder to see Jay rolling up a joint. It had been a good day--lots of sales, some scowling and looking large and intimidating on his part, but mostly, just good friends, traveling around, selling weed, hanging out. Good day. He walked back to the couch, setting the beers down on the for-once-clean-coffee-table and sat back, taking the offered joint and inhaling deeply. God. Have to take some of this edge off, Bob thought, or he'd just end up pouncing on the boy. "What would happen if we kissed... Would you run away?" They finished the joint between them, and Jay tidied up--Trish had brought over a recycling bin, and they were trying to run the glass out every now and again. He watched Jay work in the kitchen, thinking of calling it a night, when Jay came back out, curling up on the couch next to him. He pillowed his head on Bob's broad shoulder, his hands curling in the warm space between their two bodies. "Read to me?" he asked plaintively. Smiling, Bob nodded. He turned to the left, picking up a well- thumbed volume of poetry from the side table, and began to read where the book fell open. "Out of the rolling ocean the crowd came a drop gently to me, Whispering I love you, before long I die, I have travel'd a long way merely to look on you to touch you. For I could not die till I once look'd on you, For I fear's I might afterward lose you." He looked down at Jay's contented face, thinking, it's not so bad. And someday...someday. Someday. "I struggle with myself again Quickly the walls come crumbling Don't know if I can turn away" END (Song is Meredith Brook's "What Would Happen if We Kissed?". Poem is Walt Whitman's "Out of the Rolling Ocean the Crowd"
